Root-cause Healing & Holistic Shih Tzu Care

Hey there!

Billy with big smiling face on grass having fun.

This is Billy, the Shih Tzu who believes he is always entitled to eat whenever his humans are eating.

Vanessa, the heart behind Billy's Paw

And I am Vanessa, the human behind Billy’s Paw.
(And yes, I inspect my dog’s poop more closely than most people inspect their Instagram.)

Let me tell you about the inspiration behind this beautiful journey.

It all started with my fur-ever baby, Billy, a charming Shih Tzu who has stolen my heart. Billy isn’t just any dog. He’s a little bundle of joy, a true angel in fur. Our connection was instant. I couldn’t have asked for a better companion.

This is Billy at 4 months old when he entered my life.

I believe in cherishing these incredible creatures, like Billy, for as long as we possibly can, ensuring they lead the healthiest, happiest lives. It’s the least they deserve, right?

Billy was not always “the healthy Shih Tzu” you see today…

From the very beginning, it became apparent that Billy had a sensitive gut. He would:

  • vomit up yellow bile early in the morning a few times per week,
  • digestive imbalance,
  • chronic soft stools,
  • recurring ear and eye inflammation, and
  • heavy tear stains around his eyes.

Despite seeking advice from multiple veterinarians, nothing seemed to make it better.

I believed Billy needed more than symptom control. I couldn’t witness him continue to suffer.

5-month-old Billy

When conventional answers weren’t enough, I went deeper…

Watching Billy struggle pushed me into serious study and hands-on learning.

I immersed myself in:

  • species-appropriate and breed-appropriate nutrition
  • homemade food specifically for small breed dogs
  • animal iridology to help me finding the root causes of health issues
  • gentle gut healing
  • detox and deworm with herbs and whole foods

I didn’t study them out of curiosity.

I studied them because I believe my dog deserves better than guesswork.

Over time, a transformation occurred that was nothing short of miraculous – Billy’s condition began to stabilize and become manageable.

No more bile vomiting. No more loose stools. No more recurring ear and eye inflammation.

From a similar angle, you can tell from his hair, eyes, and facial expression that he looks so much better now.

It was a journey of an unwavering commitment to providing Billy with the highest quality of life.

studying iridology

This is one of the sleepless night I spent on studying animal iridology.

This is Billy today. And this is not luck.

What you see now is not a “fixed dog”.

It is the result of:

  • Understanding how the gut, liver, and immune system work together as a whole
  • Let food be the medicine
  • Addressing the root cause instead of using radom supplements
  • Regular detox and deworming
  • Living a low-tox lifestyle

Billy is the proof that true healing is possible. We just need to dig deeper and ask better questions.

I understood my new mission: to share the wisdom I had gained, the holistic approaches (that helped Billy) with fellow Shih Tzu owners worldwide.
